I discovered that the cable used when wiring the house was the old RG59/U type. Replacing the old cable with this new one completely corrected the probem. This 50 foot cable seemed to be the solution. Once I received the cable I immediately noticed that the cable has a molded end which is not what is pictured on the product page, so I was immediately disappointed. It was not what I was expecting to get. The molded ends make tightening the connectors-what should be a simple process-more troublesome than it needs to be. The problem is that you cannot tighten the connector by hand very easily since the hex nut is very narrow and so close to the "fat" molded end of the cable that you cannot easily grip it. Once you start to tighten the nut, the entire cable twists and as soon as you let go, it twists right back to where you started.
